Pathoughts --- are they real? I have no clue ... the word was made up by a demented Markovian Demon - a chip slave ... if you know what I mean. Well I googled it, and it turned out someone else used this word ... does it make it real? What will the dons at the OED say? What would you say? and Why would you say it? I am totaly amazed by Mumford's Technics and Civilization . Its such a wild ride. Eotechnics, Paleotechincs, Neotechnics ... what can can I say? Actually, quite a lot. Many new insights there. Amplification to follow.

Essential Science Indicators from
ISI® lists highly cited papers
that comprise the top 1% of papers in each field. They also have and Emerging Research Fronts category. Looking at the Decmber 2002 you see for example: In agricultural sciencess: ORANGE JUICE; GRAPEFRUIT JUICE; BLACK TEA; SMALL INTESTINE; PLASMA KINETICS --- which translates to " Absorption and metabolism of flavonoids in the diet.", and in Biology & Biochemistry you see SEQUENCE-SPECIFIC DNA BINDING; DNA REPAIR; PARP; POLY (ADP-RIBOSE) POLYMERASE 1; GENOMIC STABILITY (aka New role for the PARP enzyme in telomere replication and cellular transport.) PHYSICS (TRIANGULAR LATTICE QUANTUM DIMER MODEL; QUANTUM PHASE TRANSITIONS; RESONATING VALENCE BOND PHASE; SHORT-RANGED RESONATING VALENCE BOND PHYSICS) brings in "Study of the quantum dimer model on a triangular lattice." Hey ... thanks Professor Christopher M. Dobson. We'll have to check these often to see what they are saying ... just the way the Bubis of Fernando Po used to do.Posted by E Moritz @ 09:51 PM CST [Link]
Science Daily reports on Dr. Martin Bohner's (asistant professor of mathematics and statistics at UMR) work on dynamic equations and time scales. Pretty neat ... a while back I was reflecting on the need to recast discussions in terms of time scales .... what may be a charcteristic time interval for a rock (millions of years) is not the same as it is for a fly or a bacteroum .... well, I guess Dr. B. has fleshed this out. It'll be interesting to read the details. According to science daiy ... "paper, "Asymptotic Behavior of Dynamic Equations on Time Scales," was recently cited as "Fast Breaking" by ISI Essential Science Indicators. The designation means the work represents scientific contributions that are just beginning to attract the attention of the scientific community. Bohner co-authored the paper with Dr. Donald Lutz of San Diego State University. "
Dr. B can be found at http://web.umr.edu/~bohner/
BTW: I will be creating a journal for tech discussions on the prime-radiant site.

The president finally calls for a national commitment to hydrogen based cars. Wow - great ... something I've been advocating for years. Some good references are located
here. Its clean, its good, it reduces our dependence on foreign energy supplies ... way to go .... lets do it!Posted by E Moritz @ 08:40 PM CST [Link]
